After Sahira was born and the path of her life came to be, Josiah and I both felt the familiar emotional drop that we have gone through each time a baby doesn't come home with us. Simeltaneously, we got an email just four days after Sahira went home with her mom, that there was another birthmother on the horizon. We were sent a few questions and I answered them quickly. We didn't give it much thought because we were still resting from our last few days (and its hard to quickly shift from one baby to the next). After a week or so, I was talking with our social worker about some paperwork and asked what happened with that mother and baby. She said, "She really likes you guys, but her thoughts are scattered so we want to hold off on moving forward." More time went by, we celebrated our anniversary, and spent a few days enjoying the boys and spring. Last Monday we were told that this birthmother is ready to move forward with us. She is due June 22nd, with a baby girl named Autumn, and we are meeting her on Tuesday. The birthmother is a teenager, and her story is probably the most heartbreaking one we have been a part of so far. The social worker ended one of her emails to us by saying, "You're going to need to gather your prayer warriors around you for this one- its going to be a very emotional ride." With that in mind, we ask all of you to pray.
In the past week or so our family has been thinking about the verse Psalm 34:10, "Even Lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing". We know the strength we will need to start this process again will come from God alone, and that he will fill our every need as we go forward. Weak moments are a part of life, but with God we lack nothing. We still have so much hope. We have hope that He is preparing us for our next child, and our next child for us. The title of this blog entry is from a song called, "King of the Comebacks", its been a great encouragement to me lately. The chorus says,
"All over the world
we wait for the miracle
and its coming"
We still excitedly wait for the miracle of adoption to unfold for us.
So here we are, with our arms open to whatever the future holds. Please pray for us as we plan to meet this mother. Pray especially for the words that we say, as we want our words to be filled with the assurance and love that she needs. If you are able to pray on Tuesday at noon, that is when our meeting is. We would love for many of you to be with us in Spirit while we meet. Please also pray for baby Autumn, her health, and her precious life.
Thank you for your prayers.
