We have a meeting penciled in on Tuesday or Wednesday to meet Selah's birthmother. Please pray that this meeting is able to happen, and that she has peace and courage to take this step. Thankfully, she seems pretty confident. It takes a lot of trust and wisdom to get to this point in the adoption process. Please also pray for our communication. English is the birthmother's second language, and we want to be sure we are able to thoroughly answer her questions. Since Josiah and I have been in these meetings before, we know how truly unique they are. Strangers get together and ask intimate questions for an hour and a half, and powerful words are spoken about a life that is just starting. For me, these have always been emotional days. Sitting across from someone who is sharing their struggle and fear is always heavy, but in the past it has reminded me why we are adopting in the first place. It also connects me to a mom and baby that I know, regardless of the outcome, I will never, ever forget.
You could also pray that the birthmother finds housing. She was told by her landlord that she needs to move before the baby is born. This is obviously a huge stress. She also has three other young kids that she needs to consider during the move. I know this is weighing heavily on her right now, and we are praying that God provides a place soon. Our adoption company is assisting with this and we are so glad that she has their support.
Lastly, please pray for us as we wait over the next three weeks. Sometimes Josiah and I feel cynical about the process, and we know that it isn't helpful. Given how this path has gone, we feel pretty guarded some days. At the same time, we want to be ready and willing with open arms and hearts when a baby does need a home. So we are praying that our hearts will be preparing. You can pray that same thing for the boys as well. Luca, who is now four, was significantly younger when we started this process. He has many more questions and concerns and at times, this whole idea frustrates him. A few days ago, we had a good talk while dressing his teddy bear in some baby girls clothes. This seemed to help him and I am praying for more opportunity like this. Prayer for the other boys would be good, too!
Thank you for all that each of you do for us and for caring along the way.
